If you are just starting out in affiliate marketing, here are some ways to get some back links without spending a ton of money:
1) OnlyWire: OnlyWire includes a free Wordpress plugin that lets you submit your posts to a number of social bookmarking sites just by clicking on a button. It submits your site and/or articles to some high PR sites, but does have the annoying element that you need to log into your e-mail and confirm submissions to certain sites. You can also pay a minimal fee while not having to cope with this annoyance.
2) Article submission: Article marketing to directories is a tried-and-true solution to drive traffic towards your website. Even though some recommend submitting articles to any and every directory you'll find, it's not a good overall tactic. It is better to focus on article directories that have real page rank and authority, for example EzineArticles.com, ArticlesBase.com, and GoArticles.com. EzineArticles.com has arbitrary regulations that can change almost psychotically,, but if you build up a nice sized bank of articles with them, you'll have clicks to your money site for months, or even years, in the future.
3) Web 2.: Blogging sites like Squidoo.com, Blogger.com, HubPages.com are valuable places to build back links to your money site. A very nice way to produce links on Web 2. sites is by utilizing Posterous.com. You merely sign up for Posterous by sending an e-mail to post@posterous.com and an account will then be made for you. You can then choose "Autopost" and have Posterous to post to a variety of Web 2.0 sites like Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed, Blogger, Xanga and Wordpress.com.
4) Blog Commenting: Leaving comments on other people's blogs is another good strategy. But you shouldn't be lazy and leave boring comments like "Great site! I'll be back soon!" If I see a comment like this on my own sites, I immediately trash it, and you also probably do as well. So why waste your time and effort leaving a worthless comment which has no chance of becoming approved? Hunt for blogs that are within your niche and leave a link back to your site in anchor text if possible.
5) Forum Profiles: Another great avenue for back links. Forums can be difficult to locate, though. Try a Google search for "Powered by phpBB" and your keyword. Create a profile, then leave your keyword in anchor text inside your signature. Be cautious with this tactic; many forums will delete your profile in a heartbeat should you add a signature the second you register for an account. If your forum has enough page rank, it's worth making a comment or two within the forum, then adding a signature link in one or two weeks.
6) Video creation: If you don't know it already, YouTube.com is now the second largest search engine after Google, so getting some videos on the market is definitely worth the effort. They get indexed almost instantly, and are an easy way to create back links for your site. You can simply re-purpose one of your articles for video content. There are several options to make free videos, such as Windows Movie Maker and Cam Studios. Its not necessary to produce an Oscar-worthy video; just put your main points in PowerPoint and narrate the rest of the article. It's said that if you show your face, you gain more credibility in your audience, which makes sense. You definitely don't need to be Hollywood-star attractive; just be well-groomed and speak with sincerity. Even if you just show your mug for only a few seconds at the start of your video, or upload a still picture of yourself, it'll aid in your credibility with your audience.
.
