CPANEL GUIDE: Domains, Subdomains, Cpanel, WHM and Wordpress. HOW TO

Hi Folks, This is my step by step guide to set up domains, subdomains and install Wordpress using the services provided by any good hosting company.

Our goal is to have your account setup quickly and easily so that you can start using the full potential of Cpanel.

STEP 1: Setup your Web site Having a Web site implies having a domain name. What is a Domain? A domain is YOUR address on the internet. This is a Unique name that belongs only to you. It is as unique as is your home address, phone number, or Social Security number. No one else has this Domain name, except you. Your domain is where you live on the internet, so to speak. All your webpages, with associated graphics and documents are placed on your domain so people can visit YOUR website. If you do not have your own domain, it is imperative that you get one.

The best way to be successful on the Net is to have your own site for people to visit. Not only will people visit your offers with the use of our tools, but they also get a chance to "stumble" on to it via search engines and link sites. This guide is to start from nothing (if you already own a domain name please read a step ...

1.1: Register your own domain name: http://www.godaddy.com/

Register your own domain name and host it. Once you click on the bellow link, choose a domain name, create your register account and purchase that perfect name! You have a lot of companies to register your domain name. you can google "REGISTER DOMAIN NAMES" and select the company you want. You will register your domain like YOURSITE.COM (.net, .org, .ws, etc).

You can check the video and follow all the instructions using Go Daddy...

Go Daddy is a great Choice. >Go ahead and Pick up your Name. Its fast, easy and Cheap!. If you want other option to register your Domain name just google it.

1.2: Activate your hosting account Now you own a domain name. Next step: Access your Web Host Manager (WHM) now and create your hosting account!

Now you can use your Cpanel. A control panel for your domain. If your registered domain name is for example "ilovemysite.com" your Cpanel address will be http://ilovemysite.com/cpanel. Sign in at your cpanel and you will see all available tools.

Preferences: Start here and follow the Getting started wizard to set your main options.

Mail: Set up your email accounts and use these great webmail clients and tools. if you use all these tools, your email will be more effective and powerful.

Files: The cPanel "Disk Usage Viewer" provides a quick way to see the amount of disk space being used by folders. It will not show you individual files located in the folders. If you wish to view the individual files located in these folders where you can delete them you will need to use the file manager. Also you can set up your ftp accounts that you use to access your FTP from your FTP client that you must download and install. One great and free client is FileZilla. If you haven't installed Filezilla, you can download at http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

.

Logs: see the bandwidth usage for your site, Webalizer is a complex stats program that produces a variety of charts and graphs about who has visited your site, Analog produces a simple summary of all the people who have visited your site. It is fast and provides great lightweight statistics, Awstats produces visual statistics about visitors of your site. You can use all tools included.

Security: Manage the secuity settings

Domains: Show and set all your domains and subdomains. You can use unlimited subdomains names for your domain. Example: Your domain name is ilovemysite.com and you can add subdomains like sales.ilovemysite.com, blog.ilovemysite.com, etc. Another cool function is to redirect your new domain or subdomain to another site. Redirects allow you to make a specific web page redirect to another page and display the contents of that page. This way you can make a page with a long URL accessible by a page which has a shorter and easier to remember URL. Try it!

Databases, soft and Services : This is for advanced users. There will be a new post about it. Is not mandatory set these options.

Lets talk about Fantastico. Use Fantastico to automatically install any of the scripts on your domain or subdomain. For example, the blog your are reading now was installed on one of my subdomains through Fantastico de luxe automatically. Installing any script will use one of your available MySQL databases. Removing any script will free up one of your used MySQL databases. "Fantastico De Luxe" scripts-. You can select any script and will be installed automatically ready for use!
